Discipline is rather seen as something enforcing that is fundamentally chosen by volition. We usually claim that disciplined people are the ones who force themselves to go to the gym every day at 6 am no matter what their intuition tells them.
There is an existential line between intuition and discipline that is constantly challenging ourselves on how to live to our greatest potential.
But the balance is possible to attain, and it doesn’t have to feel in vain.
Intuition by heart is a good start
Knowing what you deeply feel like is an inherited ability that helps you to better understand yourself and your own needs. But predominantly letting these feelings guide you through your day is not the most advisable approach. Your intuitive feelings should rather be a starting point to know which direction to head in order to learn how to cope with negative sentiments as well. For example, I know by heart that I like going for runs, but having days where I just don’t feel like it, I would still go but anticipate differently. I would tell myself that instead of 45 minutes running, 20 minutes are totally fine and acceptable. Meaning, I am establishing a rather soft attitude towards discipline that incorporates my main intuition but does not fight it at all.
Knowing what serves you well by heart, is what gets you to start.
The slight edge where discipline meets intuition
As long as you are aware of what you do and allow yourself to lean into it, it gives you the actual space and choice of freedom that you need. As long as you know your intuitive line and principle, discipline doesn’t feel enforced or heavy at all.
You have the ability and autonomy to determine your day and this mere fact does give you joy and a fulfilling sentiment.
But this is easier said than done. You firstly need to examine what your energy levels look like, if you are introverted or extroverted as a person and what your actual needs are in different areas of life. Create routines around this and start living consistently and intentionally.
Your actions should ALWAYS align with your thoughts by constantly staying true to your own values and beliefs.
Infinella works with the principle of “soft intuition” which leads to the very definition of incorporating what you feel like doing into what you think serves you best. Indeed, these days where you do not have any motivation, it can feel draining to force yourself to do a certain activity or task. However, remind yourself that you only do this for yourself and no one else. Find your own approach to establish routines that inherently feel good but also align with your life goals.
Goals are essentially connected to a discipline, because they set our thoughts which are tightly connected to our actions.
